Pick Of The Week

If you pick one movie this week … this is it.

300: Rise of an Empire / Rated R / Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green

Greek general Themistocles, leading a small group of soldiers, is attempting to unite the Greek city-states in their battle against the Persian Army. Expect more bloodletting in this film that, much like its predecessor, brings the colors and action of a graphic novel to the screen. I'm one who kind of enjoyed the original 300 film. It brought an enormous spectacle to the screen that exploded with life. Here, I just felt this was a bit too much, but in a week where it is one of the only titles that I've seen, it has to be my "Pick of the Week" despite being an extremely lukewarm one. (Grade: C)
